Periodic Cleaning of Windows and Rooms

1. Introduction #

The cleaning of room windows is something that has to be done at X time in each room, but it may be that the time to do it is earlier than planned because of rain, etc.

Let’s look at an example where we are going to assume:

  1. That all room windows have to be cleaned, in the worst case, every 2 months. In other words, a window may not be left for more than 2 months without being cleaned.
  2. The housekeeper will be assigned the regular cleaning of all rooms and will distribute the work of cleaning windows to the chambermaids according to the workload and if there have been exceptional “events” that have led to the need to clean the windows before the 2 month limit has passed.

2. Scheduled task configuration #

A scheduled task is set up with the following:

  1. Periodicity: Monthly – Every 2 months.
  2. Start date: the next deadline by which you want the first cleaning cycle of all the windows to be completed. For example, if you have just finished cleaning all the windows of the hotel, you would set the start date to 2 months from now, so that the executions that will be created will have this start date as the deadline.
  3. A “Clean window” action will be added.
  4. All rooms whose window has to be cleaned will be added in locations.

Flexible period:

Not Activated

If you want each run to be launched exactly in the defined period from the initial date of the task, regardless of the actual date each run takes place.


If you want the date of the next run to be calculated relative to the actual date on which the last run took place, at the end of one run.

In this case, as we have the task planned every two months with a start date of 19 January:

  • Execution ends on 22 January
  • If ‘Flexible Period’ is deactivated: The next execution will be launched on March 19th.
  • If ‘Flexible Period’ is activated: The next execution will be launched on 22 March.

When this scheduled task is activated, the system will generate a Cleaning run for each room included in the locations with a due date on the specified start date.

3. Daily allocation of windows to be cleaned #

Each day, the housekeeper can view the pending “Window Cleaning” runs and assign the ones she wants to be done to the appropriate waitress. She can select several from the list and assign them all at once or do it one by one.

5. The following window cleanings are scheduled for 2 months from now #
